What is "Philips Zoom"?

"Philips Zoom" is one of the safest and most effective aesthetic dentistry treatments, proven by scientific research. The Philips Zoom system uses a pH-neutral whitening gel with only 6% hydrogen peroxide as an active ingredient (many other whitening systems use gels of 33% and higher), so this product complies with the latest directive published by the European Union in 2012. Also, this gel contains amorphous calcium phosphate (ACP), potassium nitrate and fluoride. During bleaching, these substances penetrate the tooth tissues, fill open dentinal tubules, reduce tooth sensitivity and form a surface layer that covers irregularities, making teeth smoother and shinier. For bleaching, an LED lamp is used, which activates the whitening gel, so a lasting result is achieved even with a whitening gel of lower concentration.

Advantages of the "Philips Zoom" system for teeth whitening:

After just one procedure, the smile becomes up to 8 tones whiter according to the Vita Shade Guide. The biggest advantage of this whitening is that it is suitable for patients with sensitive teeth. After the whitening procedure, the structure of the tooth remains unchanged, the structure of the enamel is not damaged and does not cause its demineralization. The whitening procedure can be repeated every year. The result of this teeth whitening is long-lasting — the whitening effect lasts up to 2 years! Teeth heal very naturally! The whitening gel contains calcium ions, which strengthen the teeth, fill microscopic defects on the surface of the teeth, increase the smoothness and shine of the enamel, and reduce the sensitivity of the teeth.

Procedure flow

The "Philips Zoom" system makes it easy to whiten your teeth — your visit takes just an hour and you'll see the results right after the procedure. In most cases, the teeth become even more itchy a few days after the procedure. It only takes 4 steps to whiten your teeth with this system.

Dantų balinimas Philips Zoom sistema atliekamas visose didžiosiose Šypsenos akademijos klinikose: Vilniuje, Kaune ir Klaipėdoje.

What is important to know before teeth whitening?

An oral hygiene specialist will help you choose the most appropriate method of teeth whitening, who will assess your individual dental condition during the consultation and, if necessary, prescribe additional diagnostic tests and/or treatment. During teeth whitening, teeth and gums should be healthy. For a better teeth whitening result, it is recommended to carry out professional oral hygiene before teeth whitening, during which plaque and other dirt are removed. After the teeth whitening procedure in the dental clinic, to ensure maximum results, we recommend a course of supportive whitening at home, individually designed for whitening in months, up to 14 days. It is very important to carry out whitening at home in accordance with the instructions given by the specialist. Irregular teeth whitening can damage tooth enamel and irritate gum tissue, resulting in uneven results. It is important to know that dental fillings, laminates, crowns and dead teeth do not disappear during teeth whitening, so dental restoration (lamination, aesthetic filling, dental prosthetics) should be carried out after the teeth whitening procedure. If you have non-viable teeth that have changed color due to trauma or previous endodontic treatment, their color can only be changed during endodontic teeth whitening. If you have carious tooth damage, old, permeable dental fillings or abrasive tooth damage, have dental or other serious diseases, a specialist may not advise you to perform teeth whitening procedures.Teeth whitening is not recommended for pregnant, lactating women and patients under 18 years of age.

Frequently asked questions

Is teeth whitening with the "Philips Zoom" system safe?

Yes, this procedure does not damage the tooth enamel, as the whitening agent has an alkaline pH. This alkaline environment enhances the chemical breakdown of hydrogen peroxide, speeding up the whitening process while keeping the tooth structure intact. The gel also contains calcium ions, which strengthen the teeth, fill microscopic surface imperfections, improve enamel smoothness and shine, and reduce sensitivity.

Is the "Philips Zoom" system suitable for all patients?

According to professionals, the "Philips Zoom" whitening system is suitable even for patients with tooth sensitivity. It’s also effective for individuals with dark enamel stains or very pronounced translucent enamel edges—cases where other whitening methods may be unsuitable or less effective.

Which teeth whitening method is best for sensitive teeth?

The most suitable whitening method for sensitive teeth is the Philips ZOOM system. However, each patient's case is unique, so a specialist consultation is the best way to evaluate your dental condition and determine the most appropriate whitening method.

Is it normal to feel sensitivity after teeth whitening?

Yes, a mild sensitivity is normal and should subside within a few days. We use a 6% Philips Zoom gel that protects the tooth tissue. After the procedure, a desensitizing agent is applied to the teeth, which minimizes any discomfort to the greatest extent.
